A clean, pure and crystal clear water always make us feel refreshing in our lives with water journey💦

Nothing more than that is needed. Is it right?

Clean and crystal clear water?

Hey…you mean..rust-free water with little iron?

Of course. There are many people facing challenges to remove iron in well water. They even get tired of solving this issue by trying many water treatments in their houses. Many of them are forced to move towards new 🏘️ to come out of such problems.

Do you have an idea of iron in well water? How two different components are combined? Is it accidental?

No mess!!!

How iron in well water is formed

🔖Plenty of iron in the earth’s crust – When rainwater or melting of snow travels through the groundwater and then it will be a part of our water supply, iron in the soil is combined with water and then it is available in our well water.

How do your taps rust with well water?

Rust is the resultant factor when iron in the water is oxidised with air. Therefore, when the oxygen in the air is exposed to your well water which contains iron, rust is formed in all the pipes and taps. Rust also spoils all the components of wells and the faucets.

Do iron in well water affect your health?

There is no doubt that iron is a good dietary component but everything must be limited. Protein, calcium, sodium etc are all good for human health. But one could not have tonnes and tonnes of food that contain those nutrients. When all the good dietary components are taken in a higher amount, it will make your body have imbalanced levels of such necessary components.
Likewise, even though iron gives you great health benefits, consuming it at a prescribed level is only an advantage.
As iron is considered a secondary contaminant by EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), it does not directly affect health.

Excess iron affects your skin and hair✅, Huge amount of iron intake through your well water leads you to skin and hair problems.

😳How?!!!

🔸Your skin becomes
drier.
🔸You may be a victim
of skin problems like
acne and it also
leaves damage in
skin cells.
🔸Your hair becomes
drier.
🔸The colour of your

discolouration of your
hair depends upon
the natural colour of
your hair.

Glimpses – Different forms of iron

🔖Ferrous iron
Ferrous iron represents dissolved iron i.e., it is soluble. It is dissolved in water and it is present in the form of solution.
If well water contains ferrous iron, water flows out of taps are crystal clear and when it remains stagnant it is changed into yellow or brown in colour.

🔖Ferric iron
The colour of the water is red or yellow when it starts flowing out of the taps itself. Iron water in your wells that have ferric iron does not wait for the water to change its colour only after the water is stagnated.

Water treatment for ferric iron:
💧If the level of iron in well water is more than 10 mg/L, adding chlorine followed by filtration in your water is advisable.

Iron bacteria in your wells:

Iron bacteria are small creatures that are formed in surface water. It does not harm the human body directly and we can not refuse that it helps other disease creating organisms to be grown in the well.
Iron bacteria affects the entire water in your well and it paves the way for clogging problems

Can I prevent iron bacteria in my wells?

Yes, of course.

🔺Iron bacteria is introduced into wells when drilling, repairing and construction works are taking place

🔺Don’t use lake water or pond water for such purposes

🔺Be cautious in placing your well pipes and other well components on the ground

🔺Once you do repair works on wells, disinfect the well and its components as earlier as possible.

How can I confirm that my well has iron bacteria 🦠?
Take the samples of your well water and send them to the laboratory to test whether your well water has iron bacteria.

Note: You can also test the quantity of iron content in your well water to decide the treatment of iron removal.

Treatment for iron bacteria:
✔️You can remove the damaged pipes
✔️Go for chemical treatments etc

Decision after discussion👇🏻
You can not completely avoid iron being mixed with your well water. But you can rectify your well water from iron before it reaches your taps and pipes.

How?!!!
With the help of “Iron removal plant with water softener”.

How does an iron removal plant with a water softener work?
💦Water from the well is poured into the tank
💦The pipeline is connected between the tank and another new tank which is set for aeration
💦A new pipeline is connected to a motor just half feet above the aeration tank.
💦Upon aeration, some sediments are deposited at the bottom of the tank
💦The motor is connected to ‘iron removal plant with water softener’ which contains two filters and a water softener sequentially
💦The aerated well water is filtered for different kinds of heavy iron particles in the first filter
💦Then, the second filter further filters the finest iron particles
💦Finally, the third cylinder, water softener, remove the hardness of the water and now the well water is ready to use as iron-free soft water

Water treatment with water softener💧
Water Softeners are essential in treating ferrous iron.
Water softeners remove the minerals like calcium and magnesium from water and the iron is sedimented on resin beads of the water softener. If the resin beads are backwashed, the deposited ferrous iron will be flushed away. But it is effective only when there is low hardness in water.
